Between November 2022 and February 2023, the River Murray experienced the largest flooding event since 1956 and the third highest ever recorded in South Australia. This caused damage to approximately 4000 hectares of agricultural land and approximately 3500 private residences over the course of the event.
Overview:
Green Industries South Australia (GISA) was the state government agency in charge of the recovery operation, a process which would take place over the next 18 months. Treesense Consulting was engaged by Green Industries to assess trees which had likely been impacted by the flooding event and to provide appropriate management solutions.
Outcome:
Treesense Consulting carried out assessments at approximately 70 locations across the affected Riverlands area. Trees were assessed for their suitability to be included within the flood recovery scheme and tree management recommendations were made to mitigate risk and minimise any adverse impacts to the natural environment in line with relevant legislation.
Services provided:
- Site inspections for each address, including risk assessments and visual tree assessments for each tree.
- A Tree Management Report or Site Inspection Summary for each address.
